Kierra Wooden
Kierra Wooden is a multidisciplinary artist based in Chicago, Illinois, working across photography, film, poetry, 3D art, animation, and digital media. Her practice is rooted in storytelling, using cinematic imagery and immersive worlds to explore identity, transformation, memory, and the emotional landscape of Black womanhood. Drawing inspiration from horror, surrealism, and speculative fiction, her work blurs the boundaries between the sacred and the unsettling, creating visual narratives that feel both intimate and otherworldly.
Through recurring characters and symbolic environments, Wooden examines themes of sisterhood, motherhood, ritual, longing, and becoming. Textured hairstyles, luminous palettes, sculptural forms, and dreamlike spaces become vessels for conversations about vulnerability, resilience, spirituality, and self-construction.
Across every medium, Wooden's work invites viewers into psychological landscapes where beauty and unease coexist, offering space to reflect on what it means to survive, remember, and continually remake ourselves.
